Thats Life

I'm very happy with the way things went this Saturday at the street fair and also the subsequent late night visit to Union Square Park, but it was all marred with today's realization that my wallet did not get off of the bus with me!
So there goes not only the cash in the wallet but my monthly metrocard, my monthly bus pass (NJT) and my department of consumer affairs permit (required to do NYC street fairs).
For Gods sakes...
So no Union Square for me today, I cant prove im Pedro Ramirez.

artists block

Ive had writers artists block for three days straight now, I haven't made anything! I don't think it had anything to do with, but last Sunday's street fair was HORRIBLE, I only made ten bucks! Not a good thing when you pay over a hundred bucks just to be in the darn festival... *sigh* oh well.

Hopefully the street fair of tomorrow on Lexington (between 47th and 48th) will be a little bit more productive, Ive worked long hard hours on my butterfly people, and its time for that to pay off. Tomorrow I will be changing a lot of my old cases to appeal visually, since most of my stuff is very scratched up.

seven, a custom kid, and the sun

Click any of these images to see them big!
Below is my display case featuring SEVEN of my hand painted decor butterfly people... or are they just people since they are butterfly-less?
You've got my three fav's in the center sidelined by the kids from a few blogs down. Gotta love all that art in one case.

Below.
Another custom order disaster, which is why I'm not doing anymore custom orders... if you like what I make buy what I make.
This custom order was asked by me to be made for the guy that runs to street fairs I participate in to depict his child, however they said it looked NOTHING like the kid and shoved it back in my face after about two weeks of pestering me to bring it on Saturday. However the joke is on them because the universe had a plan for this little baby, it ended up in the possession of a customer of mine who loves em, and I'm actually glad they didn't like the little tyke cause if they did the lady would not have enjoyed the piece. It features gorgeous wings of some kind of oriental moth and is just bright and full of wonder and innocence.

Below is the SUN. The most adored object in ancient times has become a butterfly once again! This piece sold on Saturday so I no longer have it; I have personified the sun many times and will do so again soon so stay tuned for some pics of it, its going to be outrageous and sexy!

Lilith is Free (so to speak)

Great news, ive just received word from one of my custom order “customers” (many whom of late have been unsatisfied with their pieces) does not want Lilith so she is now free from the clutches of being held for someone and now I can really have fun! I think she should be my next poster girl. What is a poster girl you ask? A poster girl is the butterfly person (or sculpture in this case) who is featured on all my T-shirts and post cards and buttons and that I take with me to the Park and display but don’t necessarily sell, she is a testament to my abilities as a polymer clay artist and I think Lilith fit’s the bill quite nicely. I went out today in beautiful sunny New York and took some pictures of her. I took some pics of her with some miniature trees (bonsai) and also outside on the boardwalk. She is GORGEOUS. Get ready to see her in person people, I will soon find a case for her and take her to the park with me.

ZBrush3 - I want it!

So,
who is going to step up to the plate and volunteer to get me Zbrush?
I wont hold my breath ;-)

Porcelain

Sometimes looking at my ceramics and polymer clay feats is like comparing night and day as they are very different mediums, but here are some pieces I have been working on at the 92nd street Y, classes are already more than halfway completed, but the experience definitely will lead me into a great semester at City College this fall.
I want to work with top-heavy swelling forms that indicate a sense of being full or pregnant, I will have these pots be "full of life" by sclupting inside of them, therefore they will not be functional.
