See you there!

Okay a reminder here, for those who want to see my new stuff, Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 at Union Square Park from at least noon until night fall... hopefully I will arrive before 12pm, but you know me.

Its like this...
If the green market is at bay on the West side of the park then I will try and set up in my usual comfortable spot of being across the street from whole foods. If they are taking up the entire park I will be forced to set up across from babys-R-us on the South East side of the park on Park ave. South. Look for me cause I will be there.

Note:
Those who buy little ones from me, just come to see new big stuff, don't expect to purchase any little guys at $10 or $20 bucks cause most of the things I'm bringing are big... two new tiny ones and two new medium 4" square) ones will be with me, the rest big ones... I really expect more to discuss my new pieces than actually sell anything, but hell, if you want to buy, I will not stop ya.

Cello Guitarist!

ONLY, and I mean ONLY a butterfly person could get away with playing a cello as a guitar, HAHA. Word has it that she found the instrument on the street and just began playing around with it. Check out this innovative musician. I’ve become addicted to Gold, I call it Gold intoxication, when you cant stop making pieces that are painted with GOLD or gold leaf or some sort of metallic finish. I love her, her wings are hand made from VERY thin polymer clay so they were such a DIFFICULT thing to keep on her even though they were baked first! They still warped in baking and had to be put back together several times but the final product was worth it, a complete work of art, encased in a 7” cube for eternal protection.

Playing her tunes across from Olafur Eliasson's waterfall.

Rockin' out with pottery

and peaceful paintings

Is it just me or are her wings flapping in the mirror? (the window to the other realm)

Bejeweled beauty

Many months after my last bejeweled beauty was taken home by somebody, I have created another one, she is not blond as not to be confused with Britney Spears or anything. She is a very beautiful figure with her arms up as she pulls her hair up, pieces escape in the back though. With this particular creation, I did not place all of the stones on her separated evenly as I did before, I actually clustered them together which is nice, you can even have patterns going if you are very creative, but I settled for linking the stones with each other in little groups. Her wings are made out of polymer clay and are an earthy brown. Her base will also be painted brown for what I consider to be a very nice earth-tone piece. The only drawback is her foot, it got twisted in baking and had to be amputated, I am using liquid polymer clay to re-attach it in hopes it will come out straight. The drawback of polymer clay wings is that they are so thin that they warp in baking so if I re-bake her to make her foot straight, her wings may bend or droop. Anyway, click on the pic to see her big.

Plans to vend again

Unfortunately all of my recent street fairs had to be cancelled due to me not having my department of consumer affairs street vending permit which I plan on getting back tomorrow. I was unable to obtain a new one because I did not have valid Identification. Anyway, I have a lot of new things that I want to show the world including some from the last dozen or so blogs that I have done. Lots of painted stuff, many sculptural forms and bright colors. I simply have to get cases for the pieces, most of them don't have real butterfly wings. So the day I want to get out there again is going to be Wednesday the 13th, at Union Square park on @ 14th street, due to the green market I will more than likely be on the South East side of the park on Park Avenue until 6pm when I can move over to the South end near whole foods. If my plans change of the weather doesn't agree with my plans I will let you know.

Polymer clay butterfly wings

I have sold my last butterfly person that had polymer clay wings, who knew people would like them. They do not offend, and they can come in any color you want, they are not natures creation, but they are inspired from natures design.
The set of wings below was a blast to paint using delicate water colors.

mother nature -VS- the machine

AND THE BATTLE RAGES ON.
How can Gaia, mother earth, battle the relentless Industrialization of mankind? Who will ultimately win? Industry has such bane qualities as being masculine, full of greed, discord, and separating itself from the source. Nature is primary, mankind was one of her children, somehow mankind separated itself from nature, from the fundamental “being”. Certain individuals within mankind created industrialization, they built cities and mechanical objects, they proved their superiority over nature by burning her forests, clearing her fields, blackening her skies, polluting her waters, and grew to be a creature of greed. The many hands on this monster represent the many ways in which people can take, take, take things away from nature, and each other. Something that is always grabbing to destroy and obtain everything within its power. It is metallic and shiny, because it is industrial and dark, it is masculine because masculine energy is often violent and forceful. Nature is graceful, growing, sprouting, blooming, standing tall and strong, she nurtures and cares for her children, including those individuals who cling to her and care for her soils. Nature may seem to be conquered by mankind, but mankind IS nature, its only the self-induced separation that has occurred which creates the rift between the two. As you can see some people who love nature and believe in its healing powers and strength are safe, they will not be harmed when it comes time for nature to stop being the passive force which is now is, nature will rise up and squash this pollution as a form of cleansing. So return to nature, love and respect her beaches, soils, and air and she will love you in return.
